MISSION & HISTORY.

WESAP was founded in 2010 by educator and community organizer, Dr. Aurelia L. Curtis, to honor the memory of her father, James Milton Weeks, whose altruistic spirit provided support for communities in their country of Liberia. The inception of Weeks Educational and Social Advocacy Project (WESAP) is to create programs that generate economic mobility for Liberian communities within Liberia, and those that have immigrated to the United States. In the beginning, WESAP helped wherever there was a need - from creating access to healthcare for children living with physical trauma to creating access to education. Our aim has always been to ensure that human dignity is safeguarded as we pursue our mission to increase access to better education opportunities, expand social development and improve healthcare.

While conditions in Liberia are at the genesis of WESAP, it is committed to providing assistance wherever the need arises, especially among recent immigrants to the US as they transition to a new culture and more complex systems of operation. We understand the need to quickly bridge the gap that is often present for youth and families as they seek to make meaningful connections in their new environments. WESAP has come to the aid of people in a variety of situations, assuring that they do not fall through the cracks and empowering them to make informed choices.
